Tonya Bruce and Katherine Clare Awarded Waycross Rotary Scholarships
Two Okefenokee Technical College (OTC) students, Tonya Bruce and Katherine Clare, were recognized at a recent Waycross Rotary Club meeting as OTC Rotary Scholarship recipients. Students are selected for the award based on the following criteria: academic achievement, work ethic, extracurricular activities, and community involvement. Congratulations to both students.
Mrs. Bruce is a clinical laboratory student at Okefenokee Technical College. She is on the President’s List and appreciates the opportunity to attend college and learn information related to her career field. She writes, “At OTC I have teachers who hold my attention and interest. I can tell they enjoy teaching, and that makes a big difference.” After earning her AAS degree in clinical lab, Tonya plans to attend pharmacy school. She is a volunteer at her church and in the community. Tonya is married to Jimmy Bruce, who also attends OTC.
Ms. Clare is a student in the radiologic technology program. She is a regular on the President’s List and plans to graduate in May with her AAS degree in radiology. She writes, “I have been very proud of my accomplishments at OTC.” Clare is a Sunday School teacher at First Presbyterian Church and volunteers, when she can, to serve her church and community.
