Spring semester 2019 is off to a booming start at Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC). Fall semester showed strong numbers, but spring proved that there is always room for growth. Coastal Pines Technical College’s spring semester is the eighth consecutive semester with an enrollment increase over the same semester the previous year. Coastal Pines has an all-time record enrollment at 3,863 students, which is a 20% increase over spring 2018 enrollment.
“We are very proud of our enrollment increases over the past three years and, more importantly, we know this is resulting in providing more graduates with the skills needed for our employers here in Southeast Georgia,” states Dr. Glenn Deibert, President of Coastal Pines Technical College. “Our increases are a result of offering new high demand programs like or our Associate of Science in Nursing program in Jesup and high school dual enrollment programs in other high demand career areas. More people are discovering that we offer 12 high demand career areas (more than 40 certificates and diplomas) that are free for those who qualify for the HOPE Grant and HOPE Career Grant. These programs continue to grow and this helps fill the employment needs of our businesses here in Southeast Georgia.”
In addition to growth for the whole college, Dual Enrollment saw strong numbers for spring semester as well with a record 2,250 students, which is an increase of 432 students from fall 2018 semester. This is a record breaking number for Coastal Pines Technical College, as well as the entire Technical College System of Georgia. Among the thirteen counties served by CPTC, Camden County High School has the largest dual enrollment population, with 910 students enrolled this semester. Along with being CPTC’s largest dual enrollment high school, Camden County is also the largest in the Technical College System for Fall 2017, Spring 2018, Fall 2018 and Spring 2019!
CPTC provides over 140 programs of study, eleven career paths that are tuition free, seven instructional sites, nineteen adult education sites, and dual enrollment opportunities with sixteen high schools. The College serves a thirteen county area encompassing 7,433 square miles. Coastal Pines Technical College is recognized for having a 99% job placement rate.
