Ruskin Elementary Thanks CPTC for Stem Support with a Unique Gift

When Ruskin Elementary decided to travel the path to STEM school certification, they needed an educational partner. Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) answered the call by agreeing to a 4-year partnership with Ruskin Elementary School. Through this partnership, both entities have provided learning experiences that reinforce real world applications to students and help prepare them for integrated careers in the future. As a result, students are equipped with the knowledge that a college education is attainable for them in Ware County at CPTC.
To show appreciation for the incredible opportunity to work with CPTC, Ruskin Elementary students and teachers presented CPTC officials with a 4x8ft. stingray logo crafted from over 3,000 recycled bottle caps recycled by students in grades K-5 as a part of their schoolwide recycling program. The masterpiece was created as part of the school’s new Art Upcycling program during art class under the direction of art instructor Mrs. Athena Harwood. Through art upcycling, students are learning ways to turn waste materials into something that is beautiful and useful.
Ruskin Elementary Principal Donna Solomon expressed her thanks to Coastal Pines Technical College "for helping to provide beneficial learning experiences to Ruskin's students and offering a helping hand as we progress toward STEM certification."
