Roberts promoted to VP for Institutional Effectiveness
(October 3, 2012) – Lonnie Roberts, an 11 year veteran of Altamaha Technical College’s Office of Institutional Effectiveness, was promoted to lead its office as vice president, announced President Lorette M. Hoover.
Roberts served as the Director of Institutional Effectiveness since Sept. 1, 2001, and in August, he was asked to step into the role of Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, a position not previously filled at the technical college.
Roberts’ work as director was instrumental in the June 2012 achievement of accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) as well as helping the college integrate a campus-wide strategic plan.
“We are grateful to have a dedicated staff member like Lonnie Roberts to lead our Office of Institutional Effectiveness,” said Altamaha Technical College President Lorette M. Hoover. “His leadership of the faculty and staff through the SACSCOC process was instrumental and integral in our College receiving this prestigious accreditation. He truly went above and beyond. We look to his leadership in the coming years to continue his excellent level of service and commitment as we build a better College with new strategic planning systems.”
As vice president, Roberts looks forward to “maintaining our accreditations, developing a new strategic plan for the College, helping the College become more data driven and supporting plans to increase college completion rates.”
“It is a pleasure to work at Altamaha Technical College,” said Roberts. “It’s a great group of people. I appreciate all of the support they have given me and the confidence that President Hoover has shown in placing me in this position.”
Roberts lives in Hazlehurst with his wife, Dr. Gina Roberts, and daughter, Georgia. He worked with Jeff Davis County for 20 years before joining Altamaha Technical College in 2001. He currently serves as the chair of the Jeff Davis County Library and is a liaison for Altamaha Technical College to the Jeff Davis Chamber of Commerce.
