Practical Nursing Students at Coastal Pines Technical College Receive Pins

(Dec 2014) – Coastal Pines Technical College presented its 2014 Practical Nursing program students at the Jesup Campus with their pin signifying the successful completion of their coursework.
Nine students received certificates by nursing instructor Betty Manning, R.N., and clinical instructor Dailene McDaniel, R.N., during the formal ceremony in the Jesup Campus Auditorium.
The ceremony commemorates the students’ successful completion of their nursing coursework and clinical rotations. Having completed their program of study, students have met the Georgia Board of Nursing requirements for a diploma in Practical Nursing and can take the NCLEX-PN board exam. The college has a strong history of success with nursing students passing the NCLEX-PN licensure test.
The class of nursing students may participate in the college’s January graduation ceremony. Coastal Pines Technical College graduates approximately 60 students in nursing yearly.
Several students received special awards during the ceremony: Most Professional presented to Shilonda Moore by Gail Lewis of the Business & Professional Women’s Club of Jesup; Shirley G. Davis Clinical Award presented to Shilonda Moore by Kathy Jern Buchannan, Chief Nursing Officer of Wayne Memorial Hospital; Wayne County EMS Award presented to Michael Moore by Richard Johnson. Allison Gordon and Shilonda Moore were presented the Elwanda Carter Perfect Attendance Award by Brenda Sowell, Admission Coordinator of Golden Living Center.
Class Officers are Shilonda Moore, president; Porcelyn Williams, vice president; Ashleigh Ivey, secretary; Elizabeth Martinez, treasurer; and Michael Moore, parliamentarian.
Dr. Abraham Pallas, Academic Dean of Allied Health Programs, served as emcee. Porcelyn Williams, Practical Nursing student, gave the benediction and Michael Moore, Practical Nursing Student, gave the invocation.
Coastal Pines Technical College offers Practical Nursing, Medical Assisting, Clinical Laboratory Technology, Phelebotomy Technician, Paramedicine, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Care Technology, Surgical Technology, Healthcare Assistant and Healthcare Science programs in its Allied Health Division.
