OTC Ware County EAGLE Nominees Selected
Congratulations to Dyarl Jackson (left) and Michelle Russell (right), nominees from the Ware County adult education program for the Okefenokee Technical College (OTC) Exceptional Adult Georgian in Literacy Education (EAGLE) award. Jackson and Russell were nominated for this honor by their instructor, Cathy Daniels.
Both nominees are shown here with Charlie Gibson and Katrena Taylor (center, L to R), OTC staff who served as judges Thursday, November 29, to determine who will represent Ware County in the competition. Selection criteria include student character, attitude, attendance, leadership and community involvement and activities.
The selection process involves nominees giving a three- to five- minute speech followed by an interview. The Ware County student selected by the judges continues on to the next round of the local competition in which he or she competes against other local winners, one from each of the other counties in OTC’s service area: Bacon Charlton, Clinch, Pierce, and Ware. The student selected at this level represents Okefenokee Technical College at the EAGLE Leadership Institute in Atlanta.”
The Technical College System of Georgia Office of Adult Education sponsors the EAGLE program, which celebrates adult learners in pursuit of excellence. The program is recognized as the first statewide program in the nation to honor outstanding adult education students.
