Okefenokee Technical College (OTC) students from the horticulture and forest technology programs braved the heat recently in order to complete a campus beautification project they had begun a few weeks earlier. According to OTC President Dr. Glenn Deibert, an area of the college near the Rodney Moore Building on the Waycross campus had some plumbing problems and workers dug up the drain lines, causing extensive damage to the shrubbery.
OTC Environmental Horticulture Instructor Mark Deal subsequently invited horticulture students to participate in a landscape competition and propose bedding designs to replace the shrubbery. The Horticulture Club then voted to fund the winning design. Once the design was selected, Deal and Forest Technology Instructor Tommy Peagler assisted students with the project. OTC officials and students wish to thank everyone who worked to improve the campus.
