Okefenokee Technical College (OTC) sponsored an American Red Cross (ARC) Blood Drive on the Waycross Campus recently as one of its community service projects for 2014. Forty-one (41) units of blood were collected February 27, 2014, during the five-hour period, reports Clinical Lab Instructor Mary Ann Hursey, who coordinated the event. Student volunteers from the clinical laboratory technology program helped distribute materials, set up and dismantle the room, and register participants.
“Be proud of your efforts,” Micah Hollimon, ARC senior donor recruitment representative, told Hursey and student volunteers. “Not only did the Red Cross collect the most units at OTC since 2008, but you made a significant impact on the lives of sick patients around the state.”
The college typically holds at least two blood drives each year. OTC officials and Mrs. Hursey wish to thank all the volunteers and donors.
