Coastal Pines Technical College Hosts Emergency Preparedness Drill

Jesup, GA - Coastal Pines Technical College recently hosted an active shooter drill on the Jesup campus in order to evaluate and improve key response processes. Approximately sixty people including faculty, staff and local agency representatives participated. The external agencies participating included the Jesup Police Department, Wayne County Emergency Management, Jesup Fire Department, Wayne County Ambulance, Wayne County E-911, and Air-Evac. The drill, which lasted approximately 45 minutes, ​

Students receive honors at Coastal Pines Technical College

(August 2014) –The following Coastal Pines Technical College students, attending in the Altamaha Technical College region before the merger of July 1, 2014, earned academic honors during Summer Semester 2014. The President's List recognizes those full-time students who earned a perfect 4.0 GPA and the Vice President's List consists of those full-time students who earned a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Last week the faculty and staff of Coastal Pines Technical College convened on the Jesup site to plan for the academic year. Dr. Glenn Deibert, president of the college, opened the day by welcoming everyone. His comments were followed by a brief presentation led by the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Cindy Tanner, on social media tips for promoting the college.

BRUNSWICK, Ga. (July 31, 2014) – Fourteen students in Coastal Pines Technical College’s 2014 Practical Nursing program celebrated the completion of their coursework during a pinning ceremony July 31, 2014 on the Golden Isles site in Brunswick.

 

First Coastal Pines Technical College Nursing Ceremony Held in Baxley

BAXLEY, Ga. (July 2014) – Coastal Pines Technical College presented its 2014 Practical Nursing program students at the Baxley Campus with a commemorative rose and pin signifying the successful completion of their coursework on July 26, 2014. Sixteen students received roses and certificates by nursing instructors Sheryl Nipper, R.N.; Tammy Higgins, R.N.; and D. J. Everett, R.N. during the formal ceremony in the Fine Arts Center in Baxley. Dr. Tonya Fowler Fordham was the guest speaker.

Atlanta - The state board that oversees the Technical College System of Georgia today approved the system’s request for a tuition increase of $10 per credit hour starting next year.

Washington, DC) –Today, GED Testing Service announced the launch of its campaign, Your Future is Calling, to alert test-takers who need to finish the GED test by the end of 2013. The current version of the test—the 2002 Series GED Test—will expire at the end of 2013, along with incomplete test scores. Okefenokee Technical College advisory committees met on the Waycross campus Tuesday, April 15, at 6 p.m. for the annual spring meeting. Area community and business leaders assembled in the Miller Lecture Hall for greetings and comments by college officials before going to classrooms and labs to attend their respective advisory committee meeting.

Ten Okefenokee Technical College (OTC) students competed at the SkillsUSA Georgia Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta March 13 – 15, 2014. The competitions, referred to as championships, allow students to take the skills, knowledge and experience they have gained in the classrooms and labs to a higher level. Contests are based on industry standards, and business leaders design and judge the competition.

 

Winners Announced in OTC 2014 MAW Art Contest

Approximately twenty-five Pierce County art students recently participated in the 2014 Manufacturing Appreciation Week (MAW) Student Design Competition sponsored by Okefenokee Technical College. Students in Ms. Jane Callahan’s Pierce County Middle School seventh grade art class and students in Ms. Lisa Gillis’s GATE class were among those who entered the contest.

 

Perritt Receives Ministerial Fellowship Scholarship at OTC

Congratulations to Christian (Niki) Perritt, who was recently selected as the 2014 Okefenokee Ministerial Fellowship Scholarship recipient for Okefenokee Technical College (OTC). OTC President Dr. Glenn Deibert presented Perritt with the award check recently and extended congratulations on behalf of the College and Foundation Boards.

 

OTC Announces Health Careers Summer Camp for Middle School Students

Okefenokee Technical College (OTC) officials are pleased to announce that OTC will coordinate and host a Health Careers Summer Camp for middle school students June 16-19, 2014. Middle grade students are invited to apply for the camp, which will be held at the OTC allied health building on the Waycross Campus and at Mayo Clinic Health System in Waycross.
