New Employees participate in the “FAST” Academy at Coastal Pines Technical College

Before the fall semester began at Coastal Pines Technical College, new faculty and staff convened for a two-day program called the FAST Academy (Faculty and Staff Training). There were 47 new or newly promoted employees who gathered for two days with a kickoff by the President, Dr. Glenn Deibert, who welcomed the new staff and faculty as he outlined what the program would entail. The program was developed to provide Coastal Pines Technical College’s new employees with information on how the College functions and its administrative procedures, how to handle day to day work, and how to work more efficiently.
Since this was the first academy of its kind at CPTC, employees who had been hired during 2016 and 2017 were invited to participate. The idea of the Academy came about after President Deibert realized from several “New Employee Orientation” programs that employees were asking for and seeking much more information and broader training than what was provided in a half-day session before school began. Topics such as the history of the College, student admissions procedures, personnel requirements, emergency procedures, and college planning were discussed.
To help facilitate the training sessions and to provide easy, on-going access to all information covered during the Academy, a new electronic manual has been stored on the internal web system for all employees to benefit.
There will be two more sessions for employees to complete the FAST Academy. One will be held in December and one in the spring. Dr. Deibert stated, “At Coastal Pines Technical College we value our employees, and we want to make sure that each and every one of them has the information needed to do their job and serve our students.”
