Lewis and Raulerson, Inc. and the Lewis family established the scholarship in 2012 in memory of Grady Carl Lewis, a successful local businessman who promoted education. Mr. Lewis, a graduate of the University of Georgia, enrolled in the Coastal Pines forestry program as part of his early post-secondary education and always valued his experience and training.

Mikayla Taylor is from Blackshear and will graduate from the Forest Technology program summer semester.  She is a graduate of Pierce County High School and has always had a love for the outdoors and forestry, thus making the forestry program a perfect choice for a major and career.  Mikayla is a former intern with the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Kyle Barlow is from Coffee County and is a resident of Nicholls, Georgia.  He graduated from Coffee County High School and will graduate from the forestry program in 2018.  Kyle has always been a good steward of the land and an outdoors person.  He stated, “Forestry has always been my calling.  My grandfather instilled the love I have for nature and forestry in me from a young age walking the woods of Camden County where I’ve spent a good portion of my life.”

Instructor Tommy Peagler congratulated both students and said they are hard working and deserve the scholarship.
