Jones joins Altamaha Technical College as Recruiter/High School Coordinator

(March 13, 2013) – Jovon Jones joined Altamaha Technical College as a Recruiter/High School Coordinator. She will serve the “River” counties and high schools of Wayne, Appling, Jeff Davis and Long.
Jones comes to Altamaha Technical College from the Fort Polk Education Center in Louisiana where she was a civilian education guidance counselor and test examiner. She also served as the center’s onsite coordinator for a year. She was previously employed in Admissions for Strayer University and the International Academy of Design and Technology, both located in Nashville, Tenn.
She holds a Master of Arts in Education in Counseling and Student Affairs from Western Kentucky University (Bowling Green, Ky.) and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University (St. Louis, Mo.).
She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing from Tennessee State University in Nashville.She says her favorite part about her new position at Altamaha Technical College has been working in the high school arena.
“My employment background has been in education for the past six years but this is the first time that I have worked so closely with the high school juniors and seniors,” said Jones. “I enjoy helping them discover different fields and how they will impact their future as adults.
Traveling to my high schools and working with the counselors, I am able to see the needs of the students and utilize my experience and Altamaha Technical College to help bridge the gap between education and the community.”
Jones is married to U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Ronald Jones, who is currently serving in Afghanistan. They have a three month old daughter, Rylee. They reside in Hinesville, but Jovon is originally from Kansas City, Kan.
