First Coastal Pines Technical College Nursing Ceremony Held in Baxley
Sixteen students received their Practical Nursing pins during a commemorative rose and pinning ceremony recently at the Fine Arts Center in Baxley, Georgia.
BAXLEY, Ga. (July 2014) – Coastal Pines Technical College presented its 2014 Practical Nursing program students at the Baxley Campus with a commemorative rose and pin signifying the successful completion of their coursework on July 26, 2014. Sixteen students received roses and certificates by nursing instructors Sheryl Nipper, R.N.; Tammy Higgins, R.N.; and D. J. Everett, R.N. during the formal ceremony in the Fine Arts Center in Baxley. Dr. Tonya Fowler Fordham was the guest speaker.
The ceremony commemorates the students’ successful completion of their nursing coursework and clinical rotations. Having completed their program of study, students have met the Georgia Board of Nursing requirements for a diploma in Practical Nursing and can take the NCLEX-PN board exam. The nursing program has a strong history of success with nursing students passing the NCLEX-PN licensure test at a 100% pass rate last year. Historically the College graduates approximately 60 students in nursing yearly.

Several students received special awards during the ceremony: the Inez Ogden Scholastic Achievement Award was presented to Brandy Alday by Sheryl Nipper, RN, BSN, on behalf of Altamaha Home Care and the Perfect Attendance Award was presented to Jennifer Murphy by Dennis J. Everett, RN of Coastal Pines Technical College.
Class Officers were April Sherrod, President; Kasie Lanier, Secretary; Jennifer Williams, Treasurer; Ashley Turner, Parliamentarian; and Jennifer Murphy, Reporter.
