Student Organizations

Student Life

Student organizations and activities are an integral part of student life at Coastal Pines Technical College and are strongly supported by the faculty and staff. We firmly believe that the student’s academic life is greatly enhanced through involvement in activities that develop and promote professionalism and interaction with other students. Networking opportunities are available for the students that help with their career paths.  Students are strongly encouraged to participate in one or more of several student professional organizations sanctioned by the college.

Student Organizations

Students are encouraged to participate in on-campus organizations. The listed organizations are active during each term. Interested students should talk to their instructors for more information about these organizations.

GOAL

The Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) focuses on excellence in technical education. Outstanding students attending the Technical College System of Georgia are recognized for academic excellence and personal achievement. College GOAL winners are selected at the local level by civic and business organizations. All college GOAL winners continue the competition at the school consortium level. The top two finalists from each consortium are selected and sent to compete at the state level. From this extraordinary group of students, a panel of judges selects one student, the state GOAL winner, to serve as the statewide Student of the Year and ambassador of technical education in Georgia.

GOAL competition begins early in the year. Technical college instructors across Georgia identify their most promising students and nominate them for GOAL based on academic achievement and personal leadership. It is not enough to simply be a quick learner or to have a good personality; nominees must combine these qualities with a demonstrated and active interest in their community. Students must recognize technical education’s critical impact on Georgia’s overall economic health, must have a strong work ethic, a dedicated sense of loyalty, and a healthy enthusiasm for promoting technical education. GOAL winners represent the “best of the best” students in the Technical College System of Georgia and the future of Georgia’s workforce.

The main objectives of the GOAL program are:

  • To spotlight the role of technical education in our modern economy.
  • To reward students who excel in learning a gainful skill.
  • To stimulate greater pride of workmanship.
  • To generate greater public respect and appreciation for the American worker;
  • To emphasize the dignity of work in today's society.
