Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) hosted the Pierce County Chamber of Commerce September “Opportunity Tour” on the Waycross campus Tuesday, September 15. CPTC Corporate Training Director, Jason Rubenbauer, served as the event coordinator and tour guide for the group.
After a host of CPTC officials welcomed them, guests heard from CPTC Provost Lonnie Roberts, who gave them an overview of the College, including an update on facilities and the Move On When Ready (dual credit) program. The group then visited labs and watched short demonstrations to learn about CPTC programs, program equipment and related career training opportunities.
According to Pierce Chamber Executive Director Angela Manders, the chamber encourages all Pierce County elected officials, business leaders, and economic development professionals to participate in Opportunity Tours in order to gain first-hand knowledge of the types of career development opportunities available in the community.
“Opportunity tours give community leaders a chance to better represent and promote local business and industry partners,” continued Manders. “These in-depth tours provide participants the opportunity to learn more about the incredible products, services, and workforce development efforts available right in our own backyard.”
During the tour, participants expressed appreciation to CPTC faculty and staff for their time and were genuinely surprised at the number of opportunities afforded individuals through CPTC programs, especially through Move On When Ready.
