Coastal PinesTechnical College remains committed to the health and safety of students and employees, as well as campus visitors. In order to keep the College community informed, CPTC will provide weekly updates on the number of self-reported positive COVID-19 cases.

The College has protocols in place for both employee and student self-reporting and remains in constant contact with local health officials, Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) leadership, and the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) to ensure accurate implementation of the latest health and safety guidelines related to COVID-19.

The College's top priority is the safety of our students, faculty and staff. We have encouraged, and will continue to encourage everyone to follow guidance provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) on preventative measures. Students and faculty working at off-campus clinical sites will also follow any guidelines established by the respective site. CPTC remains in contact with the Technical College System of Georgia and will continue to monitor all communication from Governor Kemp's Office, the CDC, and the DPH to ensure that we are following the latest information, trends, and guidance available.

The safety and well-being of the College community is always our highest priority. We will update this page as needed to keep our campus community informed. Additionally, the College has an emergency response plan and contingency plans that can be called into place if needed. Additional updates on these plans will be posted here as needed.

Preventing the illness

Currently, there is no vaccine to prevent COVID-19 infection. The best way to prevent infection is to avoid being exposed to this virus. To prevent the spread of respiratory viruses, the CDC recommends everyday preventive actions, including:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and  water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • These are everyday habits that can help prevent the spread of several viruses.
