(Kingsland, GA) Coastal Pines Technical College recently held an open house for the Cosmetology program. This popular, highly requested and new program to Camden County is in a beautifully renovated space on the east side of the campus of the College of Coastal Georgia. The reception desk, tasteful décor, workstations and specialty treatment areas are set to mirror an operational salon or day spa. In fact, once students reach a certain level of training, they participate in live work serving local customers in the campus Salon as well as hosting Spa Days.
Margaret Brunson is the CPTC Cosmetology Program Lead Instructorat the Camden site. This summer she is teaching classes from 8:00 – 4:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday. The courses are Styling, Color, Salon Management and Physical Hair Services. During the school year, Brunson also teaches “Move On When Ready” high school students. Because of the high demand of the program, Mrs. Brunson says, “I encourage students to plan ahead and complete their core courses to enter the program next spring. Space will be limited to 14 students per semester.”
The Coastal Pines Technical College cosmetology curriculum meets state licensing requirements of the State Board of Cosmetology. Students will receive specialized training in skin, hair, and nail care, as well as reception, sales, and salon management. Graduates who also complete state licensure requirements are employable as a cosmetology salesperson, cosmetologist, salon manager, or salon owner.
