Coastal Pines Technical College Foundation Welcomes New Trustee

Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) Foundation Board of Trustees welcome their newest Trustee, Dr. Edie Baxley from Appling County. She joins the CPTC Foundation Board of Trustees as the first ever representative from Appling County. Larry Paulk Chairman of the Board of Trustees, feels that Dr. Edie Baxley will be a great addition to the Board of Trustees and will bring focus on the Appling County area.  Dr. Baxley will serve a 4-year term on the Board of Trustees. CPTC Foundation Trustees support Coastal Pines Technical College in their mission.

Edie Smith Baxley is an educator with 39.5 years in public and private education. Dr. Baxley taught students in grades seven through twelve at Taylor County High School in Butler (2.5 yrs.), Deerfield Windsor Academy Upper School in Albany (10 yrs.), and Appling County Middle School in Baxley (18 yrs.). Additionally, she taught education courses at Altamaha Technical College. Edie served as Assistant Principal and Instructional Supervisor at Appling County High School for 3 years and Principal of Altamaha Elementary School for 6 years. Upon her retirement in 2016. Edie was asked to serve as a Georgia Accrediting Commission Consultant. She greatly enjoys visiting schools in the state and supporting excellence in public and private school education. Dr. Baxley is involved in many community and civic organizations. She currently serves as Pine Forest Garden Club President. She is also an active member of First Baptist Church of Baxley where she serves in various leadership capacities. Edie is married to Jeff Baxley, and they have two daughters, Lindsey and her husband, Mike Helfer, live in Valdosta with their children Chase, Bax, Max, and Sammy Tate, and Jamey and her spouse, Chris Collins, reside in Baxley with their daughter Edie Kate.

The Foundation (501( c) 3)  was organized to achieve the following: promote the cause of higher education at CPTC and acquire and administer cash, grants, and other funds and properties principally from industry, business, individuals, corporations, other organizations or associates or other foundations, as well as from students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other friends of the College; to assist students at CPTC by providing scholarships, endowments and grants; to provide assistance to CPTC in all legitimate ways possible for the support and development of CPTC in its educational, cultural, social, civic, and professional endeavors and development; to act as a recipient of any unitrust and annuity trust funds as may be approved by the Board of and administer the funds of such trusts as are accepted by the Trustees pursuant to the terms of such accepted and qualified annuity trust and unitrust terms.
