March 26, 2019 02:18 PM
Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) hosted an event on site Thursday, March 14, 2019 called “Goin’ Coastal” for the area high school students. More than 425 students from Bacon, Brantley, Charlton, Clinch, Jeff Davis, Pierce, Ware and Wayne counties were in attendance at the event. Students and high school staff and administrators were invited for a morning of interactive tours of the 25 program areas offered on the Waycross Campus as well as an Escape Room put on by the General Education faculty. Fifteen community business partners were in attendance to help students understand where Coastal Pines students can be hired upon graduation.
This event allowed students to not only watch demonstrations, but participate in the demonstrations that were led by actual CPTC students enrolled in programs on the Waycross campus. Some of the program activities that were offered during the event were; Suture Snippers (Medical Assisting), Snot Suckers (Respiratory Therapy), Plugged into Gaming (Computer Information Systems), Ditch Doctors (Paramedic/EMT), Stingray Snowman (HVAC), Loco for Locomotives (Railroad Technology), Come Mend a Bend (Auto Collision), Wood Walkers (Electrical Lineworker), and many more!
“Our first Goin’ Coastal event was a huge success. We had 425 high school students along with many of our area employers in attendance. We hope to see a lot of those students at Coastal Pines over the next couple of years!” states Austin Johnson, Executive Director of Student Affairs.
Congratulations are in order to the Dual Enrollment Coordinators and the faculty and staff at CPTC for their hard work in putting on a successful event to help educate our future business men and women about the opportunity to receive a quality education at Coastal Pines!
