Coastal Pines Cosmetology Program Entertains Pierce County High Students
March 7, 2019 10:43 AM
Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) recently hosted a group of 10th grade Pierce County High School Students (PCHS) to tour and spend time in programs of interest. In addition to watching demonstrations and learning about the programs from instructors, the high school students had opportunities to observe work done by students or instructors and ask questions.
The cosmetology students displayed evening hairstyles on manikins and invited PCHS students to vote for their favorite style. Instructor, Mrs. Caroline Murray, greeted students, provided information about the program and showed them the skin care room as she explained that cosmetologists learn to provide all services on hair, skin, and nails. Students were then invited to enter the hair salon and observe a chemical relaxer demonstration Dr. Jerrell Bednar was performing on a client for cosmetology students.
The salon is now offering services to clients on Tuesday through Thursday mornings. The public is invited to call the salon at (912) 287-6588 for an appointment. All work is supervised and approved by the instructor. For more information on the Cosmetology program, visit www.coastalpines.edu/programs/cosmetology/.
