Associate of Science Nursing Program to Begin First Cohort in January

November 21, 2019 09:48 AM

The Associate of Science Nursing (ASN) Program at Coastal Pines Technical College is set to run its first cohort of nursing students starting in January, 2020. This program was granted initial approval by the Georgia Board of Nursing, as well as approval by the state board of the Technical College System of Georgia back in May of 2018. The program has been in developmental stages since, and started accepting applications for the first cohort of 40 students in August, 2019. An orientation was held for the first 40 students on November 5, 2019. These 40 students represent Bacon, Appling, Pierce, Bulloch, Glynn, McIntosh, Coffee, Wayne, Jeff Davis, Liberty, Brantley, Clinch, Long, Chatham, Bryan, Ware and Camden Counties in South Georgia.

With the addition of the ASN program at Coastal Pines Technical College Jesup campus, students will have the option to pursue an advanced level of nursing by earning an Associate Degree and gaining the skills and knowledge needed to practice as a Registered Nurse. Graduates of the program will be qualified to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

“I am so honored to be a part of such an historical event. The commitment of the Leadership of this college has been unparalleled in the pursuit of this degree program for Registered Nurses. The faculty and I are privileged to have the opportunity to advance the nursing profession. I am excited to see what the next four semesters holds for these 40 students pursuing a career in nursing.”, stated Rebecca Salko, ASN Director for Coastal Pines Technical College.

Nursing is recognized as a high demand career, and students enrolled in nursing programs may be able to receive funding that covers much of the tuition. For more information on the ASN Program at Coastal Pines Technical College, please visit,
