In March, the Coastal Pines Technical College (CPTC) Air Conditioning Technology Program team hosted the HVAC Excellence Programmatic Accreditation review team for a 3-day visit. CPTC offers the Air Conditioning Technology program on the Waycross, Golden Isles and Jesup campuses; and the accreditation team visited all three. The CPTC team hosting the reviewers included faculty Lee Clark, John Davis and John Yawn; Dean Jason Strickland and Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness Dr. Teresa Allen.
Programmatic Accreditation is an independent third party review of an education program. It verifies that established standards of excellence are met. These standards are designed to ensure that the College’s future workforce receives the quality of training required to provide the skills necessary for success. Accreditation standards require a thorough examination of mission of program, administrational responsibilities, finances and funds, student services, instruction design and program elements, physical facilities, equipment and tools, cooperative training and instructor qualifications.
The accreditation team found the Program at all campuses to be in excellent condition. Based on the excellent results, the accreditation team is suggesting to the HVAC Excellence Board that CPTC’s Air Conditioning Technology program be granted a six-year accreditation cycle.
