912 Sports named the week three Coastal Pines Technical College Player of the Week, Trey Cloud. Cloud is the senior quarterback at Toombs County High School.
The Toombs County Bulldogs were happy that their senior quarterback was on point Friday night. The Bulldogs definitely needed a big game from their offensive leader as they got in a high-scoring shootout with Claxton before pulling out a 49-31 victory on the road in Pecan Grove. Cloud led the Toombs offense as he passed for 298 yards and five touchdowns. His performance has earned him the Coastal Pines Technical College Player of the Week honor for Week 3 of the 2019 season.
“It is great for our team’s confidence that we performed the way we did as a unit,” said Toombs coach Richie Marsh when asked about his quarterback and his offense. “Trey will continue to do the things that allowed us a big night, and this will make him work harder.” The Bulldogs, now 3-0, totaled 448 yards in Friday’s shootout. They rushed for 142 yards in addition to throwing for 306. Cloud was hot from the start as he completed 16 of his 21 passes on the night. Cloud also ran for a touchdown early in the game as he scored on a 2-yard run to put the first points on the scoreboard by either side. He finished with 38 yards rushing on seven carries, thus accounting for 336 yards of total offense for the Bulldogs.
Cloud’s touchdown passes covered 15, 9, 22, 60 and 35 yards. His favorite target on the night was junior receiver Chandler Lynn who caught six passes for 132 yards and three touchdowns.
The Bulldogs are off this week and will host Metter a week from Friday for their Region 2-AA opener.
