100% Pass Rate for Coastal Pines Technical College’s Jesup CNA Program
July 27, 2017 04:59 PM
Mrs. Virginia Lea Rothwell, Practical Nursing/Nurse Aide Instructor on the Jesup campus, announced that all of the Spring 2017 Jesup CNA students have passed the state registry exam. There were 12 students in the class and four of them were MOWR high school students from Long County.
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program at Coastal Pines Technical College is designed to prepare students with rigorous classroom training and practice, as well as the clinical experiences to perform a full range of patient care duties or services under nursing or medical direction. This includes taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens, assisting with activities of daily living, observing and charting patient information and reporting appropriate information to supervisors.
Rothwell stated, “There is a shortage of Nurse Aides and the graduates of this program help fulfill the need for both long and acute care.” The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics show that the employment rate of CNA’s is increasing due to factors such as an aging population moving into nursing homes and more patients suffering from chronic illnesses.
